James Felten Smith died peacefully in his home on May 28, 2017.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah July 16, 1937 to James P. Smith and Livinia Rhodes Smith.
He graduated from West High School 1957. In 1958-1960 he served an LDS mission in the Eastern States Mission. He met Lorella Joyce Plouzek at a dance and and they were married April 5. 1963. Together they had 2 children; Teresa and John. He loved his family and always wanted them to succeed. In the auto parts business he excelled with his customer relationships for 27 years. "Smitty" retired from Henderson Wheel Warehouse in 1992.
He held various positions in the LDS church and especially enjoyed teaching the High Priests. He and his wife enjoyed genealogy and doing weekly temple work both in the Bountiful and Salt Lake temples for many years. He was loved and respected by many friends and family.
James is survived by his spouse Lorella Smith, children Teresa (Mike) Larson, John (Julie) Smith, grandchildren Jessica (Cody) Allen, Jason Larson, Jarod Megatron Larson, Chelsey Larson, Mandi Larson, Colton Smith, Jaxson Smith, greatgrandchildren, Connor Allen, Daxton and Taygon (Jason). He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Livinia Smith.
Services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the Jefferson Ward, 1883 South West Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church prior to the funeral at 10:30 am. A viewing will also be held Monday, June 5 from 6pm-8pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment at Lehi City Cemetery.
