It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father. He wanted to be remembered by writing the following tribute in his own words:
Elden Stanley Bodily, birth, 27 January 1941, Phoenix, AZ. Parents were Elden Smith Bodily and Marjorie Hogan Bodily. Death, 30 August 2024, Taylorsville, UT.
Elden was a dull student; however, he acquired a BS degree (BYU) and a MIE degree (USU). What he lacked in intelligence, he compensated with opinions. Elden married Nan Sorensen, 26 April 1968.
Elden was a member of the US Army Reserve with enlisted and commissioned service for 30 years. He served in the RVN as a Petroleum Laboratory Specialist.
Elden is survived by his children, Robert L. (NC), Kristine (Scott) Taylor, (UT), Kathryn (John) Cole, (UT), Russell J. (Gabriela) (UT), Kayleen, (Don) Dunn, (UT); his 11 grandchildren, a great-grandchild; his sister, Kathryn Allison, (UT) and brother Kregg, (Rochelle), (TX).
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Joseph Bodily, brother-in-law Stan Allison, Nan Sorensen Bodily, and son Elden Sorensen Bodily.
Elden enjoyed participating in activities with which his mother would disapprove. In lieu of flowers, invest your Federal Reserve Notes in Silver, Ammunition or Food storage.
Services will be held Thursday September 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at Larkin Riverton located at 3688 W 12600 S, Riverton, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:45 am.

Guestbook/Condolences
My deepest condolences to your family during this time of saying “see you later” to your dad. It was a true blessing for me to have met him and enjoy his sense of humor and brightful personality! He was a very good man! I miss him! His mortal body is now rested and in peace while your mom is happy to greet his immortal spirit on the other side of the veil. Rest in Peace Mr Bodily ❤️🙏
Just wanted you wonderful children to know I'm thinking of you and praying for you at this difficult time. There's really no way to prepare for this finality.... one thinks they're ready to let go... but when it comes right down to it .... we're never ready. I hope and pray you will find comfort and peace in knowing that his earthly challenges and frustrations are over. May Heavenly Father bless you all, and may you feel His love. Love you dearly, Aunt Marilyn
I send my sincere condolences to you and your family. My you be comforted by the love of Heavenly Father.
Bodily Cousins- I am sorry to hear of your loss. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
When I worked in West Africa, Eldon went out of his way to make it possible to send me hygiene kits. So many I can't remember, like 500-1,000! I passed them out with education lessons and offering to change 2 of their buckets into a water filter with filters from somewhere else.
One day, when going around my neighborhood, I shared this with a lady who had a very young newborn by her lap. Her husband came home from the mosque just as I was finishing. So I repeated the same lesson for him. He asked where I was from. I replied "the blue house." He said, "No, what nationality?" After my response he said, "You know, we hate Americans as much as Jews. . . . Today you have changed my mind."
Eldon very much made this possible. I am very grateful for his impact on my life, and those he touched through me with all those hygiene kits. May God bless him for all he did to help me and those in Africa.
Dear kids, My condolences to all of you and your families during this trying time. I pray that Heavenly Father will bless you all with comfort, peace, and strength, and that your happy memories will help to carry you through. Much love, Aunt Kaye
Elden was my friend. He was “the salt is the earth” kind of guy. I worked with him at Murray High School. He took care of our cars, kids, staff, and anyone that was lost. I appreciated his humor and him. After he retired, he would come into the office during the summer, and would say “hello”. He will be missed.
Eldon was a good neighbor for 20 years. We had many long conversations at our kitchen table. He was enjoyable to talk to and ALWAYS HAD AN OPINION!!. Rest in peace, old friend.
I always loved Eldon.
He was a great friend and mentor of how somebody should treat their fellowmen with great respect and love.
Eldon always commanded and deserved great respect from his peers, and gave nothing less to those he met and knew..
Eldon was very generous with his money and time to those people and charities which he felt would benefit
I will miss him greatly, and wait for the day to see him on the other side.
I sincerely wish the best and pray for his family and for those he has left behind.
