Elisa passed away on March 31, 2026, in Murray, Utah. She was born to Gale Michael Newbold and Norda Jeppson on September 19, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Elisa was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a recent member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was an avid antique collector. Elisa was a middle school math teacher at the Monticello Academy Charter School for 14 years.
She is survived by her loving husband David Michael Betzer; son, Michael Betzer and his wife Shyrelle and their children Eden, Evelynn and Robin; brothers, Kim and Deno Newbold; and sister, Carla Newbold.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Anne Newbold; and brother, Gale Newbold.
Funeral services will be held Thursday April 9th, 2026, at 11:00am at the Belvedere Ward, 607 East Downington Avenue in Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place following the service at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
I worked with Elisa for many years and am deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She worked diligently for many years at Monticello and taught thousands of students during that time, helping them develop a love of math and learning. She was a great storyteller and a true example of a lifelong learner. She will be missed!
I am so sorry for your loss. Elisa was a great mentor to me when I started at Monticello. We had many long talks about a variety of subjects. She was a great educator who cared deeply about her students and always put their well-being first. Your family is in my prayers.
I feel grateful to have known Elisa and being part of the family. She will always be remembered for her kindness, being dedicated to do family history, and the joy she brought to me and the others. Sending love and comfort to the Betzer family.
Elisa always had a smile and made me feel special at church. She encouraged everyone to find their ancestry. She was an amazing teacher too. My heart goes out to her family.
