Obituary Photo for Elizabeth Carlyle Olsen Morris

The beautiful and elegant Carlyle Morris passed peacefully of natural causes from this life into the next, and into the arms of her loving husband Rob, on December 7, 2024. Family was with her throughout her last day here. Carlyle was born as the youngest of three children on February 1, 1935 in Mount Pleasant, Utah, to William Carlyle Olsen and Pearle Madsen. Her family raised world famous sheep on their sheep ranch in Sanpete County, and she had a wonderful childhood with her dogs Tuffy and Taffy, and Shetland pony Tony. She spent summers in the mountains as their sheep pastured above Mount Pleasant, but never became a tom boy. She had a sense of style and a flair for lovely and nice things from early on. But she surrounded herself with sheep dolls, figurines, and paintings throughout her life and never forgot her Sanpete County roots.

After being named Queen of Mount Pleasant her senior year in high school, she enrolled at the University of Utah where she quickly made many lifelong friends at the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority there. On a blind date she was introduced to a football player named Rob Morris, and later became engaged to him. They married in the Lafayette Ball Room of the old Hotel Utah in October, 1956 and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Their college friendships led to a monthly potluck dinner group that continues to this day. They were happily married for 56 years until Rob's passing in 2013. She began her married life in California where Rob began a career in the furniture business. After having their first child in Burbank, they returned to Salt Lake City where Carlyle grew her family to four children and Rob changed careers to develop real estate in Salt Lake City and later, Park City. Carlyle inspired independence and an appreciation for pioneer heritage in her children. While raising a family, Carlyle joined and became an active member of the Salt Lake Junior League, which gave her many opportunities for community service. This included giving tours to children as a docent at the Hogle Zoo and serving as an advocate in the Salt Lake County juvenile justice system. She also helped to see the University's original Natural History Museum come to fruition.

Carlyle loved the sun, Sunday dinners, Mexico, a good book, finding shells on the beach, and a good find at garage sales. Carlyle and Rob eventually moved to Park City, and after her children were raised, Carlyle studied for and became a licensed real estate agent, joining Rob's real estate firm in Park City and later becoming one of the pre-eminent real estate agents in the Park City area, working with many brokers. Her progeny continues a great tradition of working in the real estate arena. Her community and professional contributions continued as she served on the Board of the Kimball Arts Center, the Park City Board of Realtors, the National Ability Center, Egyptian Theater and Women's Peace House.

Carlyle was preceded in passing by her parents, by her older siblings Billye Jenkins and John K. Olsen, and her granddaughter Elizabeth Jane Morris. She is survived by all of her children, Mark (Catherine), Michael, Timothy (Linda) and Page Juliano (Don), 13 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren.

The family will be eternally grateful for the loving care she received at the Legacy Village in Sugarhouse, and from Valerie Jacobs during the last years of her life. Her interment will be private, and the family will hold a private celebration of her life with friends and family on her 90th birthday, after the holidays.

Guestbook/Condolences

It is with heavy hearts that we send our condolences to the wider Morris family. It is so sad that we have lost in 2024 two incredible ladies in my Mum and Carlyle, who were great friends. The world is definitely not the same without them. As a wise person once said: "Grief is the price we pay for love." May Carlyle continue to live long in all our hearts. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

A beautiful person and mother to the entire Morris family. A beloved person, who will be missed. Thanks for all the support.

Carlyle made such an impression on my parents, Jill and Roger when they first met in Park City that they decided to regularly holiday there. Her warm smile and caring nature combined with her late husband, Rob's wonderful stories made them a dynamic duo. We were so lucky to know them and my family and I have fantastic memories visiting Park City and enjoying great times together. We are thinking of you all at this sad time.

Lots of love,
Jonathan, Tara, James and Charlotte Gunn
