Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann Nava, lovingly known as Beth, who passed away on October 18, 2026, at the age of 48, surrounded by family and friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Throughout her life, Beth faced cancer four separate times, meeting each battle with remarkable strength, courage, and determination. But cancer never defined her. Although cancer ultimately took Beth's life, it could never take away the love she gave, the memories she created, or the impact she made on everyone around her. We will miss her laughter, her honesty, her stubbornness, her beautiful smile, and the fierce love she gave so freely. Beth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who had a special way of holding everyone together, even while fighting battles of her own.

Beth became a young mother when she welcomed her son, Tyler, in 1993, followed by her daughter, Alyssa, six years later. Her children were her world, and she made sure they always knew how deeply they were loved. In 2005, she met her soulmate, Jose Nava, and they married on June 14, 2008, building a life rooted in love, loyalty, and family. In 2018 and 2020, Beth's heart grew even bigger when she became a grandmother to Thaleea and Hela, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Beth was beautiful, intelligent, funny, strong-willed, and fiercely independent. She loved deeply, spoke her mind, and lived life on her own terms. She had a heart full of love, a wonderful sense of humor, and a beautiful smile that could brighten even the hardest days. She wasn't afraid to tell you exactly what she thought, but behind her honesty was a caring, generous woman who always made sure the people she loved were taken care of.

If there was one thing everyone knew about Beth, it was that she was the glue that held the family together. She was the party planner, the organizer, and the one who made sure everyone had a reason to gather. Birthdays, holidays, and everyday moments became special because Beth made bringing people together a priority. She was a protector, a fighter, and someone who would give you a piece of her mind before making sure you had eaten and had everything you needed. That was Beth: fiercely honest, endlessly loving, and unapologetically herself.

Beth spent her life bringing people together, and now it is our turn to keep them together. We will honor her by continuing the traditions she started, showing up for one another, caring for each other, and never missing an opportunity to tell our loved ones how much they mean to us.

She may no longer be here to plan the next family gathering or tell us exactly how things should be done, but whenever the family comes together, someone will smile and say, "Beth would have had something to say about this!" And chances are, they'd be right.

Beth was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Nina and Tom; her brother, John; and her grandparents.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jose Nava; her children, Tyler (Montaya) and Alyssa; her beloved grandchildren, Thaleea and Hela; her siblings, Mike (Joni), David, Joe, Sarah, Sammy, Mary (John), Jerry (Jenny), Laura, Josh, Sam, Sonam, and Nefi; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francisco and Amalia; her brothers-in-law, Miguel (Heather), Francisco, and Gustavo; her best friend, Kim (Kimmie); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Beth, you fought harder than anyone should ever have to fight. You gave this world your strength, laughter, honesty, and, most importantly, your love. Your fight is finally over, and your family will carry your love forward, keeping the bonds you worked so hard to build alive for generations to come.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever the heart of our family.

Please join us for her celebration of life on November 14, 2026, from 2-6 PM at Pro Reception Center, 7045 State St #4 in Midvale, UT 84074.
