    Darrell, so sorry to hear of Ellen's passing. You guys were always such an inspiration to me as a family and you have been greatly missed in Carlsbad since you moved away. May God truly bless and comfort you over the coming days. Our prayers are with you.

    My best wishes to father Reed and Ellen's siblings, who are friends of my youth. Prayers also for Darrel, who is temporarily separated from the love of his life. I knew Ellen back in her high school days in Los Alamos, NM. While I unfortunately have not communicated with her her in forty years, I recall with fondness her great sense of humor, beautiful smile, vivaciousness, and devotion to the Lord.

    I wrote this for my BeeHive class when Ellen was 12-13 years old.

    1976 My Girls

    To my girls
    A tribute I must give—
    To tell of joys shared,
    Of lessons learned,
    Of disappointments overcome.

    Hiking together
    (looked for a cave);
    Dancing together
    (with Terry’s help);
    Eating ice cream together
    (when hockey forced us out);
    Caroling together
    (candles and cold);
    Doing service together
    (coats, blankets, and food);
    Cooking together
    (mint brownies and the like);
    Playing volleyball together
    (next year we’ll win).

    Growing together,
    Learning together—
    Emotionally, spiritually
    Socially, and physically.
    Young ladies arising
    From little girls’ dreams.

    1978 Ellen
    Eons apart—
    The child I was,
    The young woman
    I now am.
    Growing pains
    Brought clearness,
    Awesome awareness—
    I’m an entity!
    My own clay
    To mold and shape
    To be
    What I want to be.

    Ellen was very dear to me. I loved her very much.
    Loves and hugs, Cleone Barrus

    My condolences to Darrel, Reed, and the entire extended family, including all of Ellen's siblings who were such good friends growing up. I have great memories of the years spent in the Los Alamos Ward growing up together with the Jensen family. Although time and distance have separated us, you are very much in my thoughts and prayers at this tender time. May the Lord bless and comfort each of you, particularly Ellen's husband, children and grandchildren. The blessings of the gospel include the peace that comes from knowing that families are forever.
