Elsie Erickson born January 28, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Henry and Frida Pistorius passed away peacefully on June 26, 2021 at 95 years old surrounded by her loving family in the incredible, tender care of Good Shepard Hospice.

Elsie married Rodney Erickson on February 21, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Theirs was an affair of the heart; an inspiration to all lovers, of lasting love, devotion and kindness. As Elsie always exclaimed, “it was love at first sight!” Their enduring love triumphed over seven decades. Through the good and the hard times, they were buoyed by an enthusiasm for life, family, travel, laughter and great times at the Cabin in Lambs Canyon. Their adventures took them to every continent and provided stories that delighted their loved ones. They were constant companions and by each other’s side until Rodney’s death on December 26, 2017 at 99 years old.

Elsie was a fastidious manager of resources and worked in banking; first at Tracy Collin Bank, then First Security and finally at Wells Fargo. She was gifted and talented in investing, developing strategies for CD ladders on a national scale.

Elsie was just plain fun to be around and it made no difference to her the age of her audience, she was always delighted to be the center of attention! She will be remembered by family and all who knew her for her positive nature, high energy, OCD cleaning routines, her signature laugh and of course her cheeky wit!

Elsie is survived by a thriving, ever expanding next generation of loving grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, who will carry Elsie’s joy on to whatever journey they travel. Surviving family includes, Ross (Rachelle), Keith (Allison), and Gary (Luanne) Van Vranken and Rodger (Beverly) Gukeisen. John and Cathey Fredrick, Roy and Nancy Pistorius, Bob and Louise Pistorius and Carol Peterson. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Winnie (husband Ross Van Vranken Sr.), Katie (husband William Gukeisen) and nephew Brad Gukeisen.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the staff at Sunrise Senior Living (especially Chris) for the superlative care and kindness given to Elsie over the past several years and through the COVID pandemic, and to the Good Shepard Hospice team of Theresa Chappell, Sonnie Holmbers, Barbara Richardson, Kim Thompson, Dr. Gottlieb, Alan Lowe, Shantel McBride and Kevin Clark. Additionally, special acknowledgment must go to Gary Van Vranken for his ever attentive care; who’s devotion and caring exceeded any rational expectations; thanks George!
