Stanley L. "Roy" Allen, Jr., age 91, died, February 4, 2017 of causes incident to age.
He was born February 1, 1926 to Stanley LeRoy Allen and Lillian Swenson Allen in Salt Lake City. Married Mariam Parker on August 11, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. Graduated from East High School, received a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and a MS degree in Accounting and General Management from the University of Utah. Awarded the Combat Infantry Badge in 1945 for service in the Army of the United States in Europe. Worked for Hughes Aircraft Co., Culver City and Fullerton, California. Passed CPA exam in 1968. Retired in 1991 from the University of Utah after more than 17 years service as Asst. Dir. of Residential Living. Served in various clerical and teaching callings in the LDS Church at stake and ward levels.
Survived by his wife, Mariam, of Cottonwood Heights; children, Stephen P. and Gloria Allen (Taylorsville); Thomas P. and Ivy Allen (South Jordan); Kathleen Allen (Salt Lake City); Pamela and Richard Millet (West Valley City); 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:30 am at the Brighton 1st Ward, 2925 East Bengal Blvd. (7800 So.), Cottonwood Heights, Utah. A viewing will be held February 10, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 South), Sandy, Utah, and from 10-11 am prior to services at the ward. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of the LDS Church.
