Eric Raymond Gruendell

1945 ~ 2023

Eric Raymond Gruendell passed away at the age of 78 on August 18, 2023, at his residence in Farmington, Utah with his loving wife Barbara by his side. Eric was born on March 24, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah to his parents Albert Frederick Gruendell and Roseltha Ann Parrish. Eric grew up in Millcreek, Utah in an area that he jokingly referred to as poverty flats. Eric loved his childhood growing up with his parents and siblings. Eric attended Highland High School and was in the graduating class of 1963.

Eric attended the University of Utah where he met his wife, Barbara Kaye Wall, in 1964. Eric decided to take Barbara on a romantic first date in Salt Lake City. They started their date at traffic court, for a past ticket Eric needed to take care of, and Barbara was swept off her feet! Eric and Barbara were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 24, 1966.

Eric graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Engineering. Eric spent his career with General Motors and was celebrated with multiple sales awards. GM promoted Eric multiple times, moving the family to Boise Idaho, Littleton Colorado, and Bountiful Utah. Along their life together Eric and Barbara had four children Jeff, Rob, Kristi, and Lori.

After completing a successful career at GM, Eric was able to focus more on his love of golfing and fishing. Eric loved taking his kids and grandkids fishing. Eric had tons of fishing spots but like any good fisherman every spot was a secret unless you were lucky enough to be invited by Eric. He also spent time as a golf marshal at Eaglewood golf course, where he enjoyed bringing his family to share his passion and meeting up with many friends.

Eric dedicated his life to his family. Eric was at every event, function, gathering and never missed a chance to spend time with his family. Eric attended his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, dances, church functions and school functions. Eric would greet his family with a hug and always told you how much he loved you. Eric’s smile was infectious and just being around Eric made you want to be a better person. Eric lived his life in such a way that he followed the motto of doing the right things, at the right times, for the right reasons.

Eric is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Roseltha, his brothers Douglas, Victor, Philip, and Roger.

Eric is survived by his wife Barbara, children Jeff (Kaylene) Gruendell, Rob (JoEll) Gruendell, Kristi Teeter, Lori (Andy) VanWagoner, his grandchildren Chris, Nick, Amanda, Peyton, Ashley, Cassidy, Ashton, Brooklynn, Cole, Camryn, his sister Valerie, brother Kurt and numerous nieces & nephews.

Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ward building located at 825 South 50 East Farmington, Utah on August 26, 2023. The viewing will be from 10:00am-11:30am with the funeral service starting at 12:00pm.

It has been a pleasure sharing two grandchildren with you. Being at Cole's games or Camryn's dance recitals, or birthday parties, Eric always had something nice to say and would carry on a conversation with us. You will be missed..

Prayers for Eric and prayers for all those who loved and admired him. May his memory always bring more joy and sadness that may come from time to time due to this temporary separation. He is now in the arms of God who is his eternal home…
