Evelyn Warner Loveless

Evelyn Warner Loveless passed away peacefully at home on November 18th, 2023, with her family and daughter, Patricia, by her side. She was 98 years old.

Evelyn was born in Spanish Fork Utah on February 13th, 1925 to Elisha Warner and Elsie Robertson Warner. Evelyn was the youngest of 9 children. She learned from a young age the value of hard work. It was her job to wash the family dishes, even on school days when she would come home for lunch. She would wash as many dishes as she could until she had to return to school. Her family moved to Payson Utah when she was a Junior in high school and she thought her world was ending because she felt "not one good person came from Payson" While there Evelyn joined a group of friends that called themselves "the Gay Teens." They had many parties, taffy pulls, homemade ice cream dates, and wore matching sweaters with the letters GT on them. In the summer before her senior year she met Ray E. Loveless. They married a year and half later while Ray was home on leave from the Marine Corp. In a journal entry it says, "Ray says that I met him at the train with my wedding dress so he had to marry me so I wouldn't be disappointed." He came home on October 6th and they were married on October 12th, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.

They moved to "L" Street in the Avenues right after they were married and lived there the entirety of their marriage. While there they had 4 children, Kathleen, Richard, Scott, and Patricia. Evelyn served in many church callings and served an Intercity Mission with Ray, that they dearly loved. She also volunteered at the Salt Lake Temple and was a guide on Temple Square. Ray was a sound engineer for the Tabernacle Choir and Evelyn was able to accompany him to 34 countries as he worked with the choir.

In addition to her church service she volunteered in the community as well. She volunteered at LDS hospital in the gift shop and she was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Evelyn had many hobbies that filled her days. She loved to sew and quilt, and for as long as she was able, she made quilts for all new grandbabies when they were born and also when her children and grandchildren got married. Two hobbies that she loved were bowling and fishing. She and Ray were part of two bowling leagues and she always loved the time she spent with him. They also enjoyed fishing together and did it frequently after they finished building their cabin up by Strawberry Reservoir.

The cabin was a place for family gatherings. Evelyn loved to be with family and the cabin was a perfect place to gather, play games, and have wonderful food and lots of treats. She played numerous card games with any child or grandchild that wanted too. Many hours were spent at the dining table playing Chicken Foot, Mexican Train, and "Stupid" as well as completing many puzzles.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband and two of her children, Kathleen Cryder and Scott Loveless. She is survived by her two other children, Richard (Sharon) Loveless, and Pat Lindquist, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

A special thanks to her daughter Patricia, who was her primary care giver for the past eight years, and to Intermountain Home Health Hospice- Ben, Sheila, and Eliza.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 28th, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 9855 S. 2300 E. Sandy UT 84092. A viewing will be held the morning of the funeral from 9:00-10:45 AM followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Larkin Sunset Lawn at 3:00 pm.
