Theodore R. Capener Jr.

1961 ~ 2018

Ted, 57, a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend passed away September 7 unexpectedly, due to a sudden illness. He was born on May 5th, 1961 to Ted and Judith Capener in Salt Lake City, UT. As a young boy he moved with his family to Washington DC, where he graduated from Walt Whitman High School. Ted graduated from the University of Utah.

In one word, Ted was strong. Despite pleadings from the high school football coach to join the team, he declined, because he was also tender. So while he had natural superman powers, his real strengths were spiritual and emotional. He was a man of few words, but he acted as a pillar of support for so many. Ted was always willing to listen without judgment. He'd laugh at the right time and be serious when necessary. While Ted loved cars, photography, golfing and fly-fishing, his passion in life truly was his family.

Ted is survived by his wife of 18 years and the love of his life Teresa; his daughters Brandie (Jeff), Hope (Alex), Erin, and Ali, and his son Jordan; grandchildren Saige, Nevaeh,Ty, Aizley, Takarah, Ben, Max, and Meekah; his parents Ted and Judy Capener; big sister Amanda (Mark) Rasmussen and little brother Andy (Jenny) Capener; and former spouse Wendy Peterson, mother of Jordan, Erin and Ali. Ted cherished his religion, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and loved his mission to Sapporo Japan from 1980-1982. He spent his adult life in the hospitality industry, but we'll remember him as a dutiful and diligent paperboy for the Washington Post where he gained his strength delivering the massive Sunday editions. He will be deeply missed, but we are eternally grateful to have had him. And should we die before our journey\s through….All is well.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 14th at 2:00 PM. Friends can visit with the family at his viewing from 12:30 ‚ 1:45 PM all at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy, UT. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Heart Association.
