Douglas Ralph Hawker

1931 ~ 2018

Douglas Ralph Hawker passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at his home in Beryl, Utah due to complications associated with his diabetes. Doug was born October 4, 1931 at the Old Lehi Hospital, Lehi, Utah. He was raised in Salt Lake County, finally settling on 80th South in Sandy, Utah.

Survived in death by Maria Rose Filppi Hawker (wife); Deanna Larson (Jay) daughter, Lehi, Utah; Carolyn Olenslager (Mike) daughter, Enoch, Utah; Douglas Lloyd Hawker (Cynthia) son, St. George, Utah; Mike Johnson (Valerie) son, Price, Utah. At Doug's death he had: 19 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

His wife of 64 years, Norma Mae Lloyd Hawker, passed away before him in 2013. During their married life they lived in Murray, Lehi, Sandy and Enoch, Utah.

Parents were Ralph Walter and Wanda LaVeda Hansen Hawker (both deceased).

As oldest of 12 children the siblings are: Leon Hawker (deceased) (Beverly, dec); Kenneth Hawker (Janet, dec.); Betty Palmer (Gail); Jo'an Ward; Carl Hawker (Liam); Ross Hawker (Jean); Glenn Hawker (Lyn); Pamela Hawker (dec.); Eugene Hawker (dec.); Susan Fraser (Greg); and Patricia Jones (Ron).

Doug was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His service included working in the Young Men's Program, Home Teaching, Primary Teacher and as physical facilities person for various wards he lived in.

Doug loved the outdoors. He liked to fish a lot, hunt -- mainly deer, and picnics up the mountains. He enjoyed reading and watching Western movies. He fancied himself a trucker and spent what years he could driving big rigs. He worked at Geneva Steel in Orem, UT for many years, while maintaining a salvage/wrecking yard in Lehi. He did mechanics work for many, many years at his home.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) Sandy, UT. A viewing will be held from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. prior to services at the mortuary. Interment at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
