A bright light from earth is now a bright star in heaven. William Robert (Bill) Good, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend died peacefully at home on September 19, 2013 after a gallant battle with cancer. Bob was born in Steubenville, Ohio on September 6, 1940, the oldest of three children to Martha Stepanovich Good and William Robert Good. He grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He is survived by the love of his life for more than 50 years, Rebecca, by his three sons William Robert (Bob) Good III (Barbara), John Joseph Good and Matthew Stephan Good (Ruthie) and their families, and by his brother, David Good. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother George Good. He was the proud grandfather of 7 grandsons and 3 granddaughters and a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews

Following an honorable discharge from the United States Army during which he served his country as a paratrooper stationed in Germany, he received his BS and MS in Chemistry at the University of Akron, Ohio. He then joined Ciba Geigy Pharmaceuticals (now Novartis) in the New York City area where he remained for the next 25 years. Shortly after joining the company he received his PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Freiberg, Germany. Later, Bob was affiliated with the Department of Graduate Pharmacology at the University of Utah as an Adjunct Professor and eventually moved his family to Salt Lake City in 1993 when he became Vice President, Research and Development with Theratech Inc. During his long and successful career, Bob authored many scientific papers and book chapters and was a recognized and revered pioneer in the field of advance drug delivery systems notably in the development of transdermal patches. Throughout his career he strove to make a difference in the health of mankind. The patches that he developed have benefited countless millions of people worldwide and stands as a lasting legacy and tribute to his life's work.

Bob had a keen sense of humor, enjoyed life and the pursuit of excellence in all things scientific and cultural. He loved sports and teaching. He coached his sons' baseball and football teams. He also enjoyed playing golf and skiing in his spare time and after retirement. He was also involved in civic duties on the local level and served on the Cottonwood Heights (CH) Community Council and as an alternate on the CH Board of Adjustments.

He was a man of great kindness and compassion and a valued mentor to his many coworkers. He will be remembered for his considerable intellect and for the integrity in his personal and professional life. Most of all, he will be remembered for the love of his family and the values that he instilled in his children and grandchildren. He was immensely proud of them all and of their achievements.
