Camilla Freestone Stout

1925 ~ 2018

Alice Camilla Freestone Stout passed away June 24, 2018 at the age of 93. Camilla was born on February 5, 1925 to Perrigrine Freestone and Martha Myrtle Tolman Freestone in Marion, Idaho. She was fourth in their family of three sons and three daughters. When she was about 2 years old, her family moved to Kimberly, Idaho where she spent most of her time as a youth and young adult.

Camilla served an LDS mission to the Eastern Central States between 1946 and 1947. She earned her beautician license and then attended BYU after her mission. She met her husband, John Stout, on a blind date in 1951 at a basketball game in Hazelton, Idaho. They married on June 10, 1952 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

They raised a wonderful family of three daughters, Charlene, Julie, and Sharie in Kimberly where they owned the local grocery store, Stout's Market. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, served in many leadership callings, and loved to teach the gospel. She also loved music and sports. She was one of BYU's greatest home fans in her later years.

After John retired and sold the store, they served a one-year LDS Church mission together to Fort Meyers, Florida in 1981. They moved to South Jordan, Utah in 1996 where Camilla made many wonderful friends. After John's death in 2005, Camilla moved with her daughter, Sharie and her family to Cumberland, Maryland where she spent the last 12 years again making many new friends.

Camilla will be remembered for her great love for her family and friends, her always positive attitude, and her constant and strong faith in God.

Camilla is survived by her youngest brother, Perry Freestone, Charlene and Will Stewart, Julie Payne, Sharie and David Kartchner, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will all miss her.

A viewing will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 from 6:00 ‚ 8:00 p.m. at the Riverton Larkin Mortuary located at 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Glenmoor 8th Ward 4147 W Skye Drive (9800 S.). Preceding the funeral, a viewing will be held from 10:30 ‚ 11:45 a.m. Interment will be at the South Jordan City Cemetery.
