Donald LeRoy Parr

1944 ~ 2016

South Jordan UT- On January 23, 2016 our dad's journey here on earth ended. Born on September 21, 1944, in Grand Junction, Colorado to Dee and Jewel Parr. Shortly after he was born they moved to East Carbon, UT where he stayed until he joined the US Army. Following the Army he moved to Salt Lake City and became a civilian employee working at Tooele Army Depot for 31 years. At the same time he was a member of the Utah National Guard in the 115th and 489th Engineering Units. On April 13, 1968, he was married to his sweetheart Peggy Montague. They made their home in Taylorsville, UT where they raised their three children together. After he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the family was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 1, 1983. He served in various callings in the church and loved his days in the scouting program. Peggy passed away suddenly in 1994 leaving us all with a big hole in our life. Dad was lost without his sweetheart and soon devoted his time to being a grandpa to Brenden. On April 20, 2002, Dad's life was blessed when he and Lana Madrigal were married. Dad and Lana were able to spend their years together camping, traveling and enjoying each other's company. As his health declined he ended up spending more time at home where he could be found in his chair enjoying a good western movie with Lana taking such good care of him.

He is survived by his sweet wife, Lana Parr South Jordan UT, his children, Ivan (Angie) Parr Mesa AZ, Don (Jodi) Parr Farmington UT, Margo Parr Taylorsville UT and Lana's children, Devin Dalton and Marci Madrigal. Don and Lana's 9 grandchildren also survive him. He is also survived by his siblings Richard, Brenda, Kenneth and Gina. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy and both parents.

We wish to thank Heartwood Home Hospice, especially Scott and Kelsey for their wonderful care.
