Lee Meads

1937 ~ 2017

"Today the world lost a man who was an example of compassion and love for his family and fellow man ".

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, Lee Meads passed away on October 12, 2017 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Hepatic Encephalopathy caused by liver and kidney disease.

Born on September 15, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Herbert Leonard Meads and Ella Lenora Cowdell.

Dad married his high school sweetheart Janice Elizabeth Holgreen on June 26, 1956, marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Lee and Janice were blessed with 3 wonderful daughters and was proud to be called Gramps by 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Dad earned his Eagle Scout at the age of 12, being the youngest in the state of Utah.

He was a faithful, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many callings including High Council, Bishop, Young Men\s President, and many others. He loved working with the young men and being able to help so many while serving as Bishop. He served diligently in the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples and spent countless hours doing temple work in many other temples around the world.

During their early years of marriage, dad served in the Utah National Guard and worked at Ute's Top Shop, which inspired him to start his upholstery business, Lee's Trim and Repair.

He retired from Mountain Fuel Supply, now known as Questar, after 38 years of dedicated service where he was able to work with the Special Olympics, which he dearly loved. He proudly designed one of the torches used in the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics.

Dad and his sweetheart traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally including Israel, London, and Mexico, during their 61 years of marriage.

Some of dad's favorite past times were camping, boating, waterskiing and spending time with his family. His family was the most important thing in his life.

Dad was always looking for ways to serve others anywhere, anytime.
