Steven Bradley Mangan

1967 ~ 2016

On Thursday, February 4, 2016, our beloved Steven passed away after a long, courageous battle with addictions and mental illness. Steven was born on September 18, 1967, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to George and Kathryn Mangan.

Steven's family moved to Roosevelt when he was 4, where his love for horses and the outdoors grew. He enjoyed riding horses and competing in the little Buck- A-Roo Rodeo's. He was always a little cowboy at heart.

Steve had a love for all sports. He excelled in football, baseball and wrestling. Being selected as an All-star baseball player several years was a highlight of his youth. He loved the mountains and the outdoor life the Basin offered. Dirt biking, hunting, fishing, camping or skiing, he loved it all.

He was a member of the LDS church, and loved the scouting program. He attended schools in Roosevelt, Elementary through High School, where many cherished friendships were made. He loved his days in the Basin, and those memories always held a special place in his heart. As an adult he enjoyed auto body work and restoring classic cars. He was able to enjoy this profession for many years. He enjoyed writing poetry, and taking scenic drives. Steve had a contagious smile that would light up the room, with a personality and laughter to match. He will always be remembered for his kindness and BIG heart.

Though he had a lot of challenges, his family loved and supported him, and he loved them.

The last years have not been kind to him, we choose to remember Steve as the young, wild, untamable spirit that he was. Like a "Wild Stallion".

Now that Steve is free from his mortal prison the stallion can be free again. Death leaves a heartache no one on earth can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

We will see you on the other side!

Steven is survived by his mother, Kathryn and step father Boyd Holdaway of Rexburg Idaho; one son Brysen Bench of Vernal Utah; Sisters; Mary Lou (Mike) Turley, JoLee (Chris) Henriod, Katrina (Jon) Witt, Janeese (John) Summers, Brothers; James (Teresa), Marty (Lisa). His step siblings, JoAnn (Paul) Eddins, Susan (Clair) Nusink, Gary, Matt, Mike (Tara) Holdaway. Also 27nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles whom he cherished dearly. We are sure that his Father, Brother Keith and grandparents welcomed him with open arms for a joyous reunion.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 1 PM at the Larkin Mortuary in Riverton Utah, 3688 West 12600 South. Interment will be at a later date at the Payson City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers do a good deed for someone in need. Mosiah 2:17.
