Jeffrey Howard Cain, 67, passed away peacefully on a beautiful Sunday morning, October 6th, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. Jeff was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, the third of six children to Howard and LaRue Hardy Cain. He grew up in the Salt Lake area where he learned to work hard and play hard surrounded by an amazing and loving family. Jeff attended Springville High School and graduated in 1964. He loved his time at Springville and the friendships he made there. He served faithfully in the Scotland North Mission for the LDS church. After serving, he returned to Utah and attended Brigham Young University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and later a Master of Business Administration degree. On April 19, 1974 Jeff married the girl next door and the love of his life, Laraine Buchanan, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five beautiful children, four daughters and one son. They raised their family in Sandy, Utah. Jeff loved and lived the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of the Falcon Park Ward for 35 years. He began working for the LDS church in 1977 and continued working there for 34 years at which time he retired, after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Jeff loved reading, teaching, camping with the Cain family, hiking, gardening, being in the outdoors, and doing anything and everything with his family.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 39 years, Laraine, of Sandy, Utah; his children and their spouses, Emily (Brandon) McMillan, Elizabeth (Bradley) Sheneman, Anne Cain, David (Cicely) Cain, and Alyson (David) Sharette; his mother, LaRue Hardy Cain and five siblings Colleen Trapp, Suzanne Cain, Steven Cain, Linda Ayre, and Michael Cain as well as five, soon to be six, beautiful grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Cain. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Utah Cancer Specialists, Huntsman Cancer Institute and Rocky Mountain Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 12th 2013, at the LDS Canyon View Stake Center located at 9119 South 1300 East, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, October 11th 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the Canyon View Stake Center. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Larkin Sunset Gardens.
