Betty Marie Nelson passed away peacefully at home, early in the morning on July 22, 2018, after a struggle with poor health. Betty was born on August 12, 1925 in Oasis, Utah to Lars Hansen and Albie Myrle Nichols. She grew up as a farm girl in Hinkley, Utah. She developed a strong work ethic on the farm that continued for the rest of her life. She married Donald E Nelson in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 28, 1946. Later they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 7, 1977 for time and all eternity. She served in a number of callings in the LDS church and very much enjoyed them. The one she enjoyed the most was as a worker in in the Jordan River Temple. She often expressed how close she felt to our Savior during those years.
She was a great homemaker and mother all of her life. She raised three sons and one daughter. She loved being with her children and helping with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed keeping her gardens looking very beautiful and spent as much time as she could each day with her flowers and vegetable garden.
Betty is survived by sons Gary E Nelson (Pamela), Jerry E Nelson (Debbie) and her daughter Kathryn Nelson Davis (Brent), 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Don, oldest son Ron (wife Sharilynn) one great grandchild, two sisters and one brother.
She was married to Don on this earth for 53 years now re-united with him for eternity.
A viewing will be held at the Fox Hills LDS Chapel on 3730 West 6200 South in Taylorsville, Utah on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 6 - 8 pm and again Saturday morning from 9 - 9:45 am. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
