Geri Lynne Groberg

1963 ~ 2014

Geri Lynne Groberg daughter of Marilyn Ann Brostrom and Boyd LeRoi Groberg went to be with the angels Monday November 3rd 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born April 19, 1963. Geri attended South Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. According to her minister she was a very spiritual person.

Geri grew up in Denver, Colorado as well as Ogden Utah and graduated from Ogden High School where she met and became best friends with Susan Reichmuth. She is a part of the Class of ‘81. She was a member of the Honors Society and the Key Club as well as a photographer for the school newspaper. She also graduated from Weber State University where she received her BS in Psychology and Social Work. After graduation, she wanted to go on a bit of an adventure. She went on vacation to Seattle Washington and loved it. She talked her friend Susan into moving with her.

Geri worked for her dad at his parts store Boyd's Import Auto Parts in Ogden during her high school years. Geri also worked for Volunteers of America in Seattle Washington. There she became a Crisis Intervention Specialist and later a Triage Supervisor ‚ Care Crisis Response Services. She worked there for over 10 years. When she moved back to Utah she began working for United Way of Salt Lake. Geri was hired on as a temporary full time employee and became a permanent part of the 211 within a year. Geri was a 2-1-1 Information Specialist and recently became a Resource Database Specialist as well.

Geri was a very spiritual person and attended South Valley Unitarian Universal Church. She had a fondness for nature and animals. There wasn't a stray cat or dog that didn't find its way into her heart or home.

Geri has many family and friends all over the country that are heartbroken that they are not able to spend more time with her but are also left behind with the knowledge that they have encountered an amazing woman. She loved animals, people, coffee, and had many hobbies. She will be sorely missed by all of her co-workers but especially her 2-1-1 family. We carry her memory deep in our hearts and will always remember her infectious laugh and smile.

She is survived by her Parents Boyd and Ann Groberg, Sister Kathleen Groberg Miles, nephews Steven Brian Sadler, Shane Patrick Sadler, Michael Kevin Sadler, and Brett Jameson Planbeck, and great-niece Ridley Olivia Sadler. Best friends Susan and Andy Bowman, Uncle and Aunt Ralph L. and Mert Brostrom (Riverside CA). She has other aunts, uncles, and cousins. And last but certainly not least in Geri's book of important "babies" in her life her beloved pets, Archer, Grace, and Nick.

A memorial celebration of life will be held Thursday November 6th 2014 at 5pm at Larkin Mortuary 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah in the main chapel. Interment will be at the Marion Cemetery Friday November 7, 2014 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a local animal shelter, animal adoption center, or United Way of Salt Lake 2-1-1. Geri had a passion for animals and for the work that she did every day. Her attention to detail and love for her job is appreciated by every staff member of United Way of Salt Lake.
