Dante Ulysses Cooper

1994 ~ 2015

Dante Ulysses Cooper, much beloved son of Angela Heywood Jenson and Myron David Cooper, passed peacefully Monday, February 2, 2015 in connection with a tragic auto accident the previous night. Born June 24, 1994, Dante was very dear to everyone who had the pleasure of associating with him, having many friends and relatives alike who cherished him for his gentle, loving and generous spirit. As a baby, his beautiful big brown eyes, long eyelashes, and charming demeanor elicited admiration from complete strangers and passers-by wherever his parents took him. He grew into a very handsome young man, with a beautiful smile and a calm happy nature. Dante had a love of music and was an accomplished pianist. He loved the Beatles because his mom loved the Beatles. His natural curiosity about how things worked and his mechanical aptitude exhibited themselves early inspiring him toward a goal of becoming an engineer, for which he showed great promise. After graduating from the Academy for Math, Engineering and Science (AMES), he was pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Salt Lake Community College. True to his namesakes, he had the poetic sensitivity of Dante and the love of travel and adventure of Ulysses. This love took him to various destinations in the US, Canada, England, and Italy. In his travels he actually visited the house of the great Renaissance Italian poet whose name he shares. Dante was especially adored by his grandparents. He was loved by his aunts, uncles, cousins, Juliet and other friends. He is survived by his parents, sister Alexis (18) and his two brothers, Donovan (14) and Andre (11). In his death, as in his life, he continues to bless the lives of others and bring them new hope. He chose to be an organ donor, and therefore, his heart and other internal organs went to children in various cities throughout the United States. Dante will be in our hearts forever, and his precious memory will enlighten our lives in countless ways for the rest of our days.

A viewing and a light supper will be held on Monday evening, February 9th, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary on the corner of 300 East and South Temple in Salt Lake City. Dante's funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held also at Larkin Mortuary on Tuesday, February 10th at 1:00 p.m. with a viewing immediately preceding the services beginning at 11:30 a.m. Dante's family hopes that, if you cannot attend, that you will send your cherished memories and pictures of Dante via email to Dante's mom, Angela Jenson, ahj65@msn.com, so that they might be shared with everyone at the services. Burial services will be at Salt Lake City Cemetery immediately after the funeral service.
