Meredith M. Poulson

1931 ~ 2020

Our kind father, grandfather and great grandfather, Meredith M Poulson, passed away surrounded by family members on Saturday, May 16, 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 88.
Meredith was born on December 1, 1931 to Arlo Marsh and Louise Meredith Poulson in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from East High School in 1949. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1960, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Meredith was an avid University of Utah fan, he enjoyed ushering at many sporting events with his wife.
He was an usher at Temple Square in Salt Lake City for many years, making many good friends while there. He loved creating and selling pins for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Meredith is preceded in death by his wife, Merelyn; daughters, Konni Camilla Hales and Kathy Lynn Armborst; and grandsons, Christopher Bart Hales, Tyler Gregory Poulson and Quintann King Hales. He is survived by 7 children: Deanna Lee Kramer (David), Gregory Meredith Poulson (Julia), Gordon Oliver Poulson (Julie), Steven Grant Poulson (Alisa), Margery Merelyn Thompson (Brian), Jeannette Joy Shaffer (William) and Spencer Earl Poulson (Emily); and sons-in-law, Bart Hales and Paul Armborst.

Guestbook/Condolences

Dear Nieces and Nephews. So sorry to hear of Meredith’s passing. The last few years were very difficult for him. He will now be with your mother and the wait was not too long. You are a good family and I know you will want to keep your family strong and united. I think we only see the small picture here on earth and that when we are united on the other side, we may see the whole picture and see a better picture. I am glad to be a part of the Poulson family and have always enjoyed being with you for the good times as well as the sad times. May you find the comfort and healing you need at this time. Love, Aunt Marilyn and Family

I loved this guy we called Barry. He and I spent 7 weeks together at Aspen Ridge Rehab in Murray from Jan 17th through March 10th. We had nearly every meal together during thqt time and he became a good friend. He presented me and my wife with two of his LDS pins and we, who were at his table, came to depend on him each day to keep us updated with all the things going on within the basket ball world. He was very talented on his I-phone with looking up scores, etc. I just kept hoping and praying that he would be able to get better enough to leave Aspen and spend the rest of his time at the Vets Home. Sorry I didn't get to see him after I left Aspen because of the Covid 19 restrictions. I kept track of him through one of the great nurses there. My condolences to his family. I will remember him.

So enjoyed Meredith for so many years: in the Colonial Hills 1st Ward when I was growing up, to visiting with him at the voting booths, and even enjoying many discussions when he was my patient. I still have some of the pins he made that he gave to me over the years. He will be missed. Thinking of all of you, especially Deanna, Greg, and Gordon who I knew best.

Dear Poulson family,
All my love to each of you! I have already been missing Meredith going up and down Harrison in his “Utah Red” car since he has been sick and still remember the night in the 80’s we snuck up and put a BYU bumper sticker on that red car! Back in the days when BYU actually won some of those games!😉🏈 We miss Merelyn too, but it makes us smile thinking of their reunion together and with other family members whose passings were so young and tender. Love this family!!!❤️ Denise Boren

Our prayers for peace and comfort go out to all the Poulson family. Meredith and Merelyn raised a large and wonderful family. We knew them best by their son, Gordon, who married our daughter Julie Gardner. He has been a great husband as well as father to four choice children. They are all missionary minded and their youngest is now prepared to serve as a missionary. They are ready to welcome their 5th grandchild within a month. Meredith and the Poulson family are loved by all who know them!
With love, Irv Gardner

Greg & Steve, and Poulson family, my condolences and deepest sympathy at this sad time, with the loss of your Dad, Meredith. You have a wonderful family. I really enjoyed growing up in the neighborhood with you guys. Fun times and great memories. Great to see and talk with you both last June at my mom's viewing. Unfortunately, I can't make it to SLC with this current situation going on, but I will definitely keep you in my thoughts. I look forward to seeing you in the future. Tom.

My condolences at the passing of your loved one. I was the recipient of many of his pins when he ushered on Temple Square and I was Historian for the Tabernacle Choir. What a kind man. God bless your family during this time.

Dear Poulson family,
I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to all of you at the passing of your dad. I have so many wonderful memories of times spent in your home with Konni, Kathi and Deanna, and fun ward activities we had with your family in the Colonial Hills Ward. I know how difficult it is to lose both parents, but in your time of loss may you have peace and healing as you think about the wonderful reunion your dad is having with your mom, Konni and Kathi and his grandchildren who have passed away. Families truly are Forever!! May you feel comfort as you remember favorite memories of your dad and keep your family traditions alive. The greatest tribute you can give him is to always stay close together. Both your dad and mom wouldn't want it any other way. The Cordery family sends their love!
