Our dear mother, Fern Maxine Banks, sadly passed away on June 29, 2023, at the age of 95. She was born on April 17, 1928 to Fremont and Inez Hitchens in Visalia, California and spent most of her life in the Salt Lake Valley. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She married James Alfred Banks on August 6, 1948 in Salt Lake City Utah. Their family was sealed together on June 14, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple.

She lived a full life and was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed painting, crocheting, crafting, and working in her flower gardens. She was a long-time member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and a devoted caretaker for many family members and friends.

She is survived by her children Sharron (Ivan) Richardson, Richard Banks, Laurie (Brent) Simmons, Kevin (Jodie) Banks, Virginia (Steven) Bullock, Darryl (Tina) Banks, 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James, 2 sons, James Jr., and David, 1 granddaughter Rebecca, and 1 daughter-in-law Joan.

There will be a public viewing on Friday, July 7, 2023 at the West Jordan 19th Ward Chapel located at 7000 south 2700 west from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. A family grave side service will be held on Saturday July 8, 2023 at 11:00 am. She will rest for a season at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.
