Richard Blaine Peterson

1933 ~ 2016

Richard Blaine Peterson, M.D., was born April 4, 1933 in Ogden, UT to Morris Blaine and Lucile Parry Peterson, died July 29, 2016 in SLC, UT. Married Joan Hinckley Willes, July 1, 1957 in Salt Lake Temple. Children: Kristine (Brent) Olsen, Gregory D. (Lia) Peterson, Michelle (Chris) Nielsen, Angela (David) Strong.

Graduate of Ogden High School, Weber State College, University of Utah and U of U Medical School. Richard played on State Championship baseball teams and won numerous gold medals ski racing for Ogden High and Weber State. His favorite long-term sport was golf, in which he excelled.

Interned, St. Mark's Hosp. S.L.C. with a Radiology residency at Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington, D.C. Served as a Radiologist in the U.S. Army; Walter Reed Army Hospital, 2nd General Hospital, Landstuhl, Germany and Chief of Radiology at Fitzsimons Army Hospital, Denver, Colo. Retired Sept. 1967 with the rank of Major.

Began Radiology practice at the Salt Lake Clinic, Sept. 1967. As part of his practice he served as both Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Radiology Dept, as well as positions in the Utah State Radiology Society including counselor to the American College of Radiology. Retired July 1998.

Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in many callings. He diligently cared for his family, meeting their needs in every way.

Siblings: Julie Rae (Bill) Keith, Thomas P. (Frances) Peterson, Marylu (Van) Johnson, 19 wonderful grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Serves will be held in the Monument Park Stake Center, 1320 Wasatch Dr. on Monday Aug. 8th at 12 Noon. Visitations will be at the same location Sunday, August 7th, 6-8 and Monday at 10:45 ‚ 11:45 prior to services. Online condolences can be shared at www.larkinmortuary.com.
