Frank Owen Watterson, 86, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023, in Citrus Heights California.
Frank was born in Logan, Utah on February 22, 1937. He joined the United States Marine Corps when he was 18 years old. He then served from 1955-1959 as a combat engineer.
In 1973, Frank was accepted into the advance schools and worked for the Salt Lake City Street Department until 1979.
Frank then began his career with the United States Postal Service in Salt Lake City, where he retired in 2012 after 33 years of service.
Frank was a cherished grandpa of six grandchildren.
Frank loved camping and going on vacations, but his favorite thing was going to the casinos where he could spend hours playing the penny machines.
Frank is survived by his son, Brian Watterson, son David Watterson (Becky and Sarah Watterson, Katharine and Kolton Herrin), son Scott Watterson (Shawn Watterson and Shawns mother Becky Vellatti), son Mike Watterson, and daughter Jolene Stokes (Greg, Brittany, Rachel and Matthew Stokes).
Frank is preceded in death by his grandparents, John C. and Effie (Thorpe) Jensen, his mother Ruth (Jensen)Watterson, and his wife of 45 years, Sheron (Green) Watterson.
A graveside service will be held, Saturday November 11, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, located at 1950 E Dimple Dell Road in Sandy, Utah 84092. A viewing will be held prior to the service at the same location from 12:00-2:00 pm.
I always loved Frank. When we saw one another after long absences, broad smiles were spontaneous both ways. He was a good man, fine husband to my sister. I haven't often seen him in person for many years but that relationship will continue forever.
