Jimmy M. Valdez

1924 ~ 2017

Jimmy M. Valdez (93) passed away peacefully the morning of November 21, 2017. He was the 4th child of 11, born July 25, 1924 to Juana Medina and Vicente Valdez of Bingham, Utah. Survived by his closest siblings, Christine Allen and Mary Valdez. Jimmy graduated from Bingham High School and joined the 25th division, 35th regiment, Company B of the U.S. Army. While fighting overseas during WWII, he became a Platoon Sergeant, and earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his bravery in combat. He ended his service as First Sergeant, teaching English at schools in Japan. Jimmy returned home to Utah, and worked at Kennecott Copper Mine, where he later retired. After retirement, he dedicated his time to his granddaughter, Nakisha Xaiz, and was loved and adored by many. His youthful spirit will be missed. Services will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn (2350 E. 1300 S.) on Tuesday, November 28 at 11am, with a viewing starting at 10am.
