Don Jay Schurtz

1925 ~ 2015

Don Jay Schurtz, born June 3, 1925 in Lethbridge Alberta, Canada. Decorated War Veteran and many years Cottonwood Heights, Utah resident, died \"running\" to his beloved late wife, Grace Merle (Flowers) Schurtz on August 30, 2015 in Los Angeles California with family at his side. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WW II. He then served 21 years, and retired as Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force (Including Service in the Korean War and Vietnam). Moving to SLC, Utah, he worked and retired from RCAand First Security Bank in Computer Operations and Maintenance. Upon retirement he dedicated himself to his Family History work, Church Extraction, Mormon Batallion, and traveling with his wife. Predeceased by Parents Rudolph Clark and Maud (Romeril) Shurtz, Sister Madeline Shurtz (Frazier), Brother-in-law Douglas Terry, In-laws Joseph Daniel and Grace Eunice (Boone) Flowers, Wifes\ twin brother Joseph Maurice Flowers and beloved wife Grace Merle (Flowers) Schurtz whom he loved the moment he saw her singing a solo at Church in Mobile Alabama and adored to his dying day. (Married Cardston Alberta Canada Temple of God) Survived by his Sister: Coral Shurtz Terry, Salem, Brothers: Royden Shurtz (Alene), Provo, Byron Shurtz (Nola) Raymond, Alberta, Canada. Daughter, Dana Schurtz Parry (Tom) Monterey, CA, Sons, Jimmie Schurtz (Laura (Harlan) San Tan Valley, AZ, Hugh Schurtz Los Angeles, CA. 10 Grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa, Andrew, Christopher, David (Dana and Tom), Natalie, Sonja, Joel, Seth, Mark (Jim and Laura) and 19 Great Grandchildren. Our Parents first date was at Alabama\s beautiful Bellingrath Gardens. Dad run, walk and embrace our Mother for eternity.

A graveside service will be held at10 AMon Tuesday, September 8, 2015, Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 17111 South 1700 West, Riverton, UT. Thanks to his Ward, Cottonwood Heights 5th and the Westwood 1st for Christlike Kindness.
