Janeal P. Hancock

1927 ~ 2014

Janeal P. Hancock passed away calmly and fearlessly on March 20, 2014 surrounded by her family. Our hearts are tender but we rejoice in her release from pain and celebrate her courage and example. She will forever be a wonderful inspiration to us all. She married her sweetheart, Glenn A Hancock, September 10, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple, and 66 years later he is put out that "she went first—that was not the plan!" Their five children and their spouses adored her, as did her 19 grandchildren and an ever-growing list of great- grandchildren—each one precious—three of whom were waiting for her when she left this life. Florence Janeal Parkin Hancock was born March 12, 1927 to Lincoln Dewey and Florence Hill Parkin. She is survived by her husband Glenn and children, Don (Kathie) Hancock, Linda (Jon) Meier, Mark (Ka) Hancock, Kevin (April) Hancock, Susan (Kent) Diamond, and her brother, Robert (Jan) Parkin, and sister, Marilyn Epperson.

Her testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was an example to all and she left us unafraid. Serving faithfully in various callings she never wavered in her conviction. She knew we'd be together again. She loved to crochet, travel, throw parties, and most importantly she loved her sports. If the Jazz or BYU were playing, you could find her arm-chair refereeing in front of the television. She had many friends and was always a joy to be around. It was easy to make her laugh, and we will sorely miss that infectious giggle. We love you, Mom. Our family would like to thank the RICU staff at IMC for their stellar care of Mom, and we also express our deep gratitude to the Steve Crawford family for being such angelic and caring neighbors.

Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Monday, March 24, 5-7 pmandTuesday, March 25, 10 to 10:45 am at the LDS Church, 4100 S. Camille St., Holladay.
