Marjorie Moon Kent

1916 ~ 2016

Our sweet mother, Marjorie Moon Kent, returned to the arms of her eternal companion, Robert D. Kent, Friday, June 17, 2016. She was born October 6, 1916 to Nephi and Melinda White Moon at her maternal grandmother's home in Woodland, Utah. She attended school in Hanna and Provo, UT. She graduated from BYU with a degree in elementary education. She taught in Duchesne, where she met Bob and they were married May 29, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they shared 75 years of love and devotion here on earth which will continue throughout eternity. Until she met Bob, she had never been out of the state of Utah. Together they travelled the world and visited numerous LDS temples. Marjorie started helping Bob with his State Farm office, which inspired her to attend LDS Business College and become a licensed agent.

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many auxiliary positions. Marjorie especially enjoyed her service in the Primary and as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. She was passionate about family history research and involved her family in completing ordinances for more than 3,000 of her ancestors.

Marjorie was a member of the Edgehill Camp Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for more than 50 years. The DUP gave her an opportunity to learn a great deal about her ancestors. She loved to entertain the DUP sisters in her home.

Marjorie gathered her family together often to celebrate birthdays, holidays and planned many family reunions. She had an enduring testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ which she shared with her five children, Robert D. Jr (deceased), Coleen (Dean) Menlove, Howard (Kathy), Carolyn (Dan) Flandro and JoAnn (Rich) Bott; 26 grandchildren, 83 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Marjorie had 12 brothers and sisters, and is survived by two brothers, Floyd and Roger (Lana) Moon and her sister in law Karen Moon. Also preceded in death by grandsons Mitchell Menlove and Kazen Kent.

Marjorie was grateful for the gospel and knew that the greatest gift we have ever received was from our Heavenly Father who sent His Son, Our Savior, Jesus Christ. It was her greatest hope and prayer that all her posterity be sealed as an eternal family.
