Donald Wayne Butterfield, Sr. our sweet, loving father, brother, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa and friend left this earthly life on October 29, 2017, at the age of 74. He passed away peacefully at home, just as he wanted.
Don was born in Murray City to his incredible parents, Russell and Lucile Butterfield with his 4 older brothers, whom he adored. He was raised in Riverton where he graduated from old Bingham High School. He was in 4-H club and scouting, in August 1959 his "pet cow" took grand champion at the Salt Lake County fair. He enjoyed car shows, either entering his own for display or seeking one out that he never saw before. He devoted 39 years working for Kennecott Copper Corporation, Don's heart belonged to his children and grandchildren, we all sought his approval and if/when you had it you cherished it. The privilege of being this man's friend was an honor, he is the greatest man many could ever know.
Don leaves behind his son Don jr., daughters Carrie, Theressa, Laura, Brothers Leon, Larry, Ray, nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons whom he loved very much. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Reed and sisters-in-law Margie and Donna Butterfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Larkin Mortuary-Riverton, 3688 W 12600 S, Riverton, Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and again at 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services held on Friday. Interment will follow at Riverton City Cemetery.
