Verna Avanell Thomas

Verna Avanell Thomas passed away at 94 from causes incident to age in West Jordan, Utah on February 23, 2018 at 2:30am. Verna was born in Glen Hazel, Pennsylvania on September 28, 1923 to May Ernestine and Thomas Roy Clark. She was the 4th of 5 children; Francis Elmer, Herbert Edward, Mildred Roberta, Verna Avanell and Marian Elizabeth. She enjoyed a loving home in the Pennsylvania countryside. She came from a musical family and acquired a love of singing and dancing and often sung duets with her sisters Marian and Roberta in their local community. On July 28, 1942 in Fort Dix, New Jersey, she married Wallace Lawrence Thomas and later moved to Utah. Verna was an avid reader and loved preparing Italian food, not to mention she made the best Pound Cake this side of the Mississippi. Verna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and taught Primary and worked for years in the nursery with her daughter Camille. She is survived by 4 children that were born into their marriage; Marsha, Judy, Camille and David that live in Salt Lake County.

A short viewing service will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 in Brigham City from 10:30am ‚ 11:30am at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E. Then the graveside services and interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery at 12:30pm.
