Dear Whatcott family, I just came across this, and wanted to send my love and support. I have so many fond memories of time spent in your house in my early years. Brother Whatcott always seemed so mild mannered and kind. It was also fun to run into Gary and Jeri around town, and they've always remembered me, and always asked about my family.
I hope you are all doing well, and again, I am so sorry for your loss.
In Loving Memory

Obituary
Gary Lavell Whatcott, 86, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026. He was born on October 12, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Bessie Glen Garrison and Henry Lavell Whatcott.
Gary graduated from Olympus High School and went on to serve in the Army Reserves. He furthered his education at the University of Utah, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he served an LDS mission to the "British Mission."
He married Jeri Lyn Everett in 1963 and together they built a loving family. Gary dedicated his career to working at Kennecott, Eaton Kenway, and Dynotronics until his retirement.
A lifelong and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gary found great joy in serving in various capacities. He particularly cherished his time singing in the choir and playing the piano and organ. His family will forever hold dear the memories of him playing the piano, especially his unique and embellished renditions of "Chopsticks," which were never played the same way twice. Gary will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering support, and his wonderful smile.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Jeri Lyn; his children, Wendy Waldes, Michael (Michelle) Whatcott, Stephen (Wendy) Whatcott, and N. Christine (Richard) Henderson; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Donna. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and Lavell, and his siblings, Nelly, Louis, JoAnn, Ginny, and Lynn.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Thanksgiving Meadows LDS Chapel, located at 3155 N. Garden Drive, Lehi, UT. A viewing for family and friends will be held prior to the services from 9:30 am to 10:45 am. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
