Gene Edward Prunty 69, beloved Husband, Father, Brother and Papa passed away surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with Carcinomatosis. Gene fought multiple health issues over the last several years but this final battle ultimately took over. He lived his entire life as a fighter and never gave up, not even in the end.

He was born in Honolulu, HI and lived all around the world with his military family, later joining the Air Force himself.

In 1994, he married Lisa Prunty the love of his life in Lake Tahoe, CA. He was grateful to have had the opportunity to raise Jake and Adam as his own in Sandy, Utah.

Gene lived a life with a variety of interests. He loved all kinds of motorcycles ( racing or riding ) and was one of the original founders of the Utah Sport Bike Association. He was an artist, an amazing dancer and often appeared on American Bandstand in high school. He was also a Martial Artist Champion in Kenpo, another sport he loved. Gene moved to Utah in 1978 and became came a hairstylist, later owning is own Salon in Holladay, Utah. At 40, Gene graduated from the U of U with his Bachelors Degree in Business which he obtained in 2 1/2 years.

Gene was the “Life of the Party” bigger than life itself. His out going personality and handsome features made him unforgettable once you met him. Gene was grateful for family, unconditional love and the amazing memories he built with Lisa, the boys and extended family. His special tight bond with his grandkids especially Brynlee ( Little Unit ) and Jaxton were priceless to him. Gene & Lisa were luckily to be the love of each other’s lives and felt like they saved each other. The deep loved they shared can never be replaced. We believe our time apart is only temporary but until we meet again, you are now reunited with Brandy your daughter. We know you will still be watching over us as our own guardian angel. Loved by so many, you are leaving a Legacy that will never be forgotten.

Gene is survived by Lisa Prunty ( wife ), Jake Swoyer ( son ), Adam Swoyer ( son ), Brynlee Swoyer( granddaughter), Jaxton Swoyer ( grandson ) George Prunty ( brother ) Patty Prunty ( sister in law ) Barb Jacobs ( sister in law ), Pete Duennebeil ( brother in law ) Roxanne Duennebeil ( sister in law ) and MANY nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Preceded in death by Gene Stanley Prunty ( father ) , Georgia Prunty ( mother ) Charles ( Skip) Prunty, ( brother), Brandy Ellen Prunty ( daughter).

In lieu in flowers, please make donations to the Cancer Society or Parkinson Foundation in Gene’s name.

All are welcome to his “Celebration of Life” and sharing of memories at LE JARDIN at 1910 E. Dimple Dell Road on November 8th from 5:30 - 8 pm.

Gene “is” a magnificent man, filled with creativity, strength, and love. He found nuance in everything, with an inquisitive mind and sincerity. We are so sorry for your sudden loss of your amazing husband. It was hard to believe it happened so fast. I am so happy I had the pleasure to visit with him the Friday before he passed. Gary reminded me of what Gene once said when we were talking about how we each met our spouses. He said that he first met you while out dancing. He said (Gene) the minute you put your arms around him it felt like a cozy warm blanket. 🙏Prayers for you and your little beautiful family!!Keep all your wonderful memories in your heart. ❤️ Love You Lisa!

Lisa and family, my thoughts are with all of you. Im deeply sorry for loss. Gene was an incredible man. He had a way with his charming, down-to-earth, straightforward personality, and infectious smile you could feel through the phones, to get just about anyone to agree to anything! When Gene was in full conversation, our team would just stop whatever we were doing to admire and cheer him on. He was also such a great friend. He genuinely cared and took an interest in getting to know you (really get to know you) astrologically and all. He was wise, thoughtful, so funny, and he LOVED Lisa more than anyone loves anything. Then he became a Papa— gentle giant. He melted with those kids. Gene, I will always cherish our time working and laughing together (lots of laughing). You’re missed more than you know. Thank you for the great times.
