Gerald James Frisbey

1934 ~ 2024

Listen to Previously Recorded Service

Heaven is a brighter place and people there are smiling and laughing more now that our charming father, Jerry Frisbey, has arrived to entertain them with his stories, his jokes, his big heart and his genuine interest in getting to know people. Yes, he will be serving ice cream and taking pictures, of course.

Jerry Frisbey, 89, of Salt Lake City, died peacefully in his sleep on January 29, 2024, after a several month long battle with cancer that had sent it into remission. Born February 3, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Jerry lived most of his life there, with a brief stint in Hawaii as a teenager. A graduate of South High School, Jerry then served in the U.S. Army and a mission for the LDS Church, before graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in psychology with a minor in accounting economics.

After graduating from college, Jerry spent forty-one years as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Schering Corporation (now Merk), winning multiple awards, including National Distinguished Hospital Representative.

An avid gardener, Jerry also enjoyed bike riding and snow skiing, even into his 89th year of life. He also greatly enjoyed photography throughout his life. Family was everything to Jerry. He was a passionate genealogist, who spent many hours researching and retelling his family history.

Jerry was an eternal optimist and had a great sense of humor. Even in his final days, when asked how he was feeling, and although he could sometimes barely get the words out, he would say, “I feel like a million dollars.” He loved people. Jerry would talk to anyone and everyone. He greatly enjoyed meeting new people and learning all about them. Everyone who knew Jerry, loved him. He will be greatly missed.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Nona Frisbey, his daughters Lisa Morley (Ron) and Ann Saltzman (Brandt), his son Zane Frisbey (Kadee), his step-sons Anthony Barnett and Sean Barnett, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Eileen Frisbey. Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter Denise Durenburger.

A viewing will be held starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Hilltop Ward located at 589 East 18th Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103, with services to follow at 11:00 a.m.
