Gerald “Jerry” Wright Neff, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on his 80th birthday, June 9, 2025, in Sandy, Utah.
Born in Salt Lake City on June 9, 1945, Jerry lived a full and meaningful life marked by generosity, hard work, and a deep love of family. He spent his career as both an insurance broker and a skilled mechanic, and he had a lifelong passion for classic cars. Known for his kind heart and his willingness to help anyone in need, Jerry was the kind of man who would drop everything to lend a hand.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Neff; his daughter, Jessica Neff; and his grandsons, Christian Jensen and Gage Packer. His legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength will live on in the lives of those who knew him.
A viewing will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn (2350 E. 1300 S. Salt Lake City, UT 84092), followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m.
In honor of Jerry’s signature style and the way he lived his life, the family kindly invites attendees to wear Levi’s or denim to the service. Jerry wore Levi’s just about every day, and it’s how he’d want to be remembered.
The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to Aspen Ridge Rehab and Hospice and the Sandy City Fire Department for their compassion and support in Jerry’s final days.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
I worked with Jerry for many years. He had a heart of gold! I loved hearing his stories of when he was with the Boy Scouts, especially teaching survival in snow caves. He was also very very generous! Out of his own pocket he helped me financially to supply a young man who needed a suit. This was the kind of man Jerry was. He wanted to always help others. His memory will always be a blessing. My heart and prayers are with Barbara and his family.
