  • Theresa Thibodeaux Blake, 85, died peacefully Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 1:20 pm, while at the Beehive Home in South Jordan, UT. She was surrounded by her daughters, Shirley and Eva.

Theresa was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a deep and simple testimony that she'd gained after her baptism in December of 1969 in Garden Grove, California. That testimony was sustained throughout her life. She loved sharing her testimony while going out with the Sister Missionaries.

Theresa was a very talented artist who loved to crochet. She created colorful and vivid blankets that were meticulously customized for each child, grandchild, and great grandchild. Spouses too!! Her talent was shared by many others outside the family she knew and loved, and no doubt, they will become more precious in time.

Theresa is survived by her baby brother, Wilbert Thibodeaux of Sacramento, California, and sister-in-law Sally, with whom she was very close, and by her remaining children, Shirley (Jon) Ulbrich and Eva (John) Eckersley. She had 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great granddaughters. She is also survived by many cousins, of whom she enjoyed the status of being the eldest for many years, and nieces and nephews, in addition to her stepchildren, Glenn and Martha.

Theresa was preceded in death by her Father Clovis Thibodeaux and her Mother, Melvina Forrestier, and siblings, Gervis, Whitney, and Mary. She was also preceded by her loving daughter, Jeri, and her baby boy, Michael, both of whose death had a devastating effect on her. Theresa also lost a granddaughter, Tracy.

Surely there was a joyful reunion with family and friends at the passing of her life. She enjoyed being the family "resource person" as she had a perfect retention of fascinating stories of her great extended Cajun family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Beehive Home for the loving care given to our Mother. We are very pleased with how they cared for her while on hospice. We would also like to thank Shelly, of Elder Care Consult for her care of Mother.

    Guestbook/Condolences

My sincere condolences to Theresa’s daughters and all her family. She was a dear friend here in our Lafayette Ward and we had some fun times with our little get togethers-she made some fabulous desserts! So sorry I didn’t get to talk to her after she left Lafayette but did get to see her in that rehab center before she moved. Will miss her sweet smile and her sense of humor so much.
I pray the Lord will bless you all with peace and comfort at this difficult time.
    God Bless You!
