Our beloved husband, father, and "Opa", Duane Allen Thompson, passed away on August 11, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah, having lived a long, interesting and adventure-filled life. Duane was born to Benjamin and Helen Thompson on June 14, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan. He leaves behind his loving wife, Karin, daughter Kathy Dougherty, daughter Kristen Jones, son-in-law Peter Dougherty, son-in-law Christopher Jones, and six adoring grandchildren: Ryan and Eric Dougherty, and Abigail, Daniel, Michael and Eliza Jones.
Duane was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He was a hard-working physician who loved hunting and fishing and almost any outdoor activity. He loved spoiling his grandchildren and telling them endless fanciful stories conjured from his imagination. He was a curious, intelligent, eccentric and interesting soul who will be dearly missed.
A private funeral service for family and friends was held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Larkin Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 South, Sandy, Utah, after which Duane was laid to rest in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
