Glen passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020 in his Sandy home after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by this three children and dearest friend, Connie Lerner. Born in Ogden, in 1941 to Pieter Vlaanderen and Ada Vandersteen, Glen married his cherished wife, Lawana Briggs, in 1961. They raised their three children in Utah, Idaho, Colorado, and California before retiring in Sandy to be near their grandchildren.

Glen spent his career working as a manager for AT&T and was the most committed husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had a passion for gold panning. Metal detecting, coin collecting, working with gems, camping, hunting, and fishing were some of the many other joys in his life. Glen was inventive and a tinkerer. He had the self-confidence to tackle any task or problem; one of the many wonderful traits he bestowed on his children. Later in life he dabbled in the stock market and refurbished computers as a hobby/business. Glen was an explorer in many ways and treasure hunter at heart.

Sadly, his wife, Lawana, passed away in 2006. He never remarried, but found love and companionship with a new sweetheart, Charlotte. Glen is survived by his sisters Linda Currie (Val, deceased), Joyce Nothwang (Joe), Karen Long (Allen); his children Todd (Ed), Roger, Darci Crossley (Guy); his grandchildren Kendra Nelson (Tyler), Kearsten Howlett (Justin), Cody Crossley (Emily), and Gabriel Vlaanderen-Hernandez; and his great-grandchildren, Grant, Paul, and Gabriel. Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Lawana, his parents, and his older brother, Robert Vlaanderen.
