Glenn Duane Morgan

1947 ~ 2023

Obituary Photo for Glenn Duane Morgan < >

On a quiet July 12, 2023 afternoon, Glenn Duane Morgan passed through the veil to greet his parents and loved ones who have gone before. Glenn had numerous medical challenges and is finally free to do and be what makes Glenn, Glenn. He was born January 16, 1947 in San Francisco, California to Travis Morgan and Noreen Pitt.

Always a rambunctious boy, he found a great love for fishing. If he went missing, you could be sure you would find him at a nearby stream or canal with a pole in hand. He travelled great distances to find the perfect fishing hole. Glenn loved nature and all the beauties of the earth. He would rather be driving and taking in everything around him than be in the city. His favorite fishing hole was Flaming Gorge; in so much that we purchased a home there. Over the last 18 years, he spent more time there than at home in Salt Lake. Flaming Gorge gave him the freedom to fish, hunt, explore, and take in the majesty of the Uinta Mountains.

On August 1, 1977, Glenn met Sue at a young adult softball game. It was love at first sight for him, but it took a lot of wooing and effort to convince her of the same, including throwing bowling games so she would win. They married on April 6, 1978 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have had 45 years together and lots of memories to ponder upon. Life was never boring with Glenn!

Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 18 and served honorably for five years on the island of Guam during the Vietnam conflict.

Glenn is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full-time service mission at Welfare Square Bishop’s Storehouse for 11 years. He loved serving the Lord in this manner. Always big hearted and willing to do whatever it took to provide comfort and assistance to those in need.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Sue and Oscar; a brother and sister, Darin Morgan (Cheryl) and Saundra Pankratz (Robert); Father-in-law Lemonte Peterson, Brother-in-Laws Monty Peterson (Ruth) and Dave Peterson (Kathleen). He leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. There will be a visitation Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the mortuary and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 am prior to the services. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
