I’ve always respected and appreciated Kent’s kindness toward our family. I felt like he was a very Christ-like individual, and I will deeply miss him.

He graduated from West High School.
On November 9, 1967, Kent married the love of his life, Linda Gustafson, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they were blessed with six children.
In 1961, he was hired by Union Pacific Railroad and began his apprenticeship. In May 1963, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After completing his military service, he returned to the railroad, finished his apprenticeship, and faithfully worked there until retiring at the age of 62. Kent also served his fellow workers as President of IAM Lodge 1497 for five years and as a member of the Pacific Rails Credit Union Board for 18 years.
Kent enjoyed being with his family, some of the activities they enjoyed together included camping, fishing, hunting, shooting and long drives while listening to Marty Robbins, Johnny Hortin, Johnny Cash and Tex Ritter. He also enjoyed reloading, working on mechanical projects, and building cannons. He loved reading history, mystery, and frontier stories, and he especially enjoyed family history work.
He faithfully served in many church callings throughout his life, including Scoutmaster three times, Elders Quorum Counselor, Elders Quorum President, Second Counselor in two bishoprics, High Priest Secretary, Assistant High Priest Group Leader, Executive Secretary, and Facility Building Manager for 17 years.
Above all else, Kent wanted his posterity to know of his love for his Savior and for the gospel of Jesus Christ. He shared his testimony often with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving a legacy of faith, hard work, service, and love that will continue through generations.
