One of the last great loyalists has left our hearts broken. Greg Yates from Kentucky passed on his perch, on January 21, 2022. Married to the luckiest woman on the planet for 37 years, Karen Yates on June 26, 1984.

Loyal to his Kentucky roots to the end! He was born to the proud parents Helen and Tommy Yates on April 25, 1953.
No one that has ever lived enjoyed life more than Greg! He has now gone to join his late sister Judy, and his father, as well as the many beloved family and friends that have passed before him!

He leaves his loving mother, who he talked to several times a week for hours! They couldn’t have been closer if she lived with us! His wife Karen; his best friend and son Nick, And grateful son Adam; his 6 lucky grandchildren Khyler, McKenzie, Michaela, Khalie, Koen and Kaison, who he loved dearly and unconditionally! Also loving niece Gretchen and family and from Kentucky.

We want to thank the many family members, wonderful neighbors, medical personnel, and first responders for being there until the bitter end!
Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate his life on Friday, February 4, 2022, at a graveside service at Mt. Olivet cemetery at 11:00 am.

Guestbook/Condolences

Greg was the best neighbor anyone could ask for; the one you didn't even know could exist. He was funny, creative and aways willing to lend a hand. I can still hear his laugh. We never got the chance to play golf, yet I am grateful for the memories my family had with him over the last 14 years as neighbors. You will always be in our minds and hearts. My condolences to Karen, the boys, grandchildren, and his mom in Kentucky. Sending hugs love from us to all who loved him.

So sorry to hear of Greg's passing. I worked with him for several years at Columbus and have fond memories of him. He was a good guy, always laughing. Here's to the Derby and one more Mint Julep.

Just watched Greg's service on zoom. It's still hard for me to comprehend. I've been missing all the hugs, hand-shakes, shared memories, and shared love. What an amazing group of family and friends all rolled into ONE beautiful ball of LOVE. My heart was there with you, and it will always be with you and Greg. In loving memory of a natural, trustworthy, sincere friend. Steve

Sending condolences to the Yates family. He was a great man with a heart of gold. The peaceful nature was contagious. My children will always remember and cherish the time they had with pop pop. Sad he was taken too soon leaving a huge void in the world . Love you Greg I promise your grandkids will know what a great man you was
