Our Loving Husband, Father, Brother and Friend. Gregory (Greg) Hughes Taylor, 73, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2022 in his home. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 28, 1949. He lived in the Salt Lake Valley and Phoenix, AZ. His parents died at a young age, and at one point he dropped out of high school to help his mom support his siblings and keep them out of foster care. He later attended night school and achieved his diploma. He helped raise his brothers and sisters although he was a young man himself. The bond he created with his siblings can never be broken or replaced.

Greg was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as a Nursery & Primary Teacher, he adored the children and they adored him and they gave him the name of Grandpa Taylor. He always carried gummy bears in his pocket for the children. He also served as the Executive Secretary to six Bishops. He loved to serve and help others in any way he could like giving rides, yard work, shoveling walks, or just giving them something to smile about. He put the good in good neighbor.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, exploring, and yard work. He occasionally packed all his grandchildren in his little car and took them on adventures. He enjoyed road trips and liked to stop and eat at the little Mom and Pop shops. He had a sweet tooth and was always up for food.

As a teenager he worked at Don Carlos and later worked at Midwest Floor Coverings where he built and maintained long term friendships from both. He was loved and adored by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Whether he was at work, church, or just in the grocery store he could easily make a friend or make you laugh. He had an amazing sense of humor. He was the light and the joy of any get together. He had a way of always making you feel loved, and appreciated.

Survived by the love of his life Mardean, children David Taylor, Josh Taylor and Tina (Tommy) Martin, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and his siblings Marsha (Ben) Kip, Keith (Dianna) Taylor, Cindy Rolfe, Mitzi (Bryan) Balfour and many friends whom also loved him. Preceded in death by his parents Clarence Hughes Taylor Sr., Eula Ruth South Taylor, sister Debbie Tallant, brothers Clarence Hughes (Hughie) Taylor Jr., Jeffory Taylor, and brother-in-laws Eddie Tallant and Tim Rolfe.

Special thanks to SunCrest Home Health and Hospice, Keith Taylor and Eli Rolfe.

    - Marjean

Heaven has welcomed "Home" a valiant and faithful son. The example of love, warmth and brotherhood lives on. Greg will always hold a special place in our hearts and lives. He knew how to make you feel special. Always welcoming you into his home and stopping whatever he was doing to focus on you. His laughter, stories and humor drew a huge circle to include you.
Mardean, we love you so much and wish we could put our arms around you, hold your hand and cry with you. Maybe we can feel that Greg is enjoying being with our own son, Gregg and having a laugh or two.

With the Plan of our Heavenly Father, we know this time of mourning can be a blessing too. We reflect often of times together, but know one day of being reunited. May you find the joy and comfort during your separation from him. He lives because of this Plan. Greg has passed and graduated to the next level. We must work until our time. Greg will continue to watch over you and you will feel his presence many times as the veil is thin. We testify of the blessings that can be yours as you are comforted. Know you are in our thoughts. We love you too. Sending hugs now.

Mardean, we are so sorry for your loss. We need to start thinking of death as a graduation from this life to something g much better. Without all the hardships of this life. Although it is so hard for the ones left behind. We wish we could be there with you, but neither of us can drive in Salt Lake City. Know our prayers are with you. Love Del and Deb and the whole bunch.

We were a very young family when we moved into the McKinley Ward. I will always be so grateful for how Grandpa Taylor welcomed us, and served my family and my children. For nine years, he treated my kids as if they were his own grandchildren. What a blessing he was to us. He is a wonderful man, who was always so warm and kind. We love you.

    - Jessica Berrett

Mardean, I have a spare bedroom in Burley where you are welcome any time. I'll send a card or e-mail with my address. It is hard after spending so many years alone to go back to living on our own. You did it once and you can do it again. A cousin and friend. Marcia Bair

    - Marcia Bair

Mr dear Mardean, my heart is broken for you.
Greg's loss has to be so hard on you. I am here to help you in any way that I can.
Greg was the best big brother anyone could ever ask for. Never a harsh word. He kept us laughing and kept our spirits up through many trials and tribulations in our lives.
He helped so many people in so many ways, family friends, and even strangers. He brought happiness wherever he went.
I'm so happy he is at peace and without pain and on the other side with his loving family.
I will miss him every day until I see him again.
    💕❤💕
