Shirley Watson Reynolds

1923 ~ 2016

Shirley W. Reynolds, our adored mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 19, 2016. She was born March 9, 1923 in Ogden, Utah to Carl S. Watson and Edna Hayes Watson. She married the love of her life, John D. Reynolds, Jr. in February of 1941, prior to John's service in WWII. They were deeply devoted to each other and loved their time together, especially their weekends at their cabin in Oakley, until John's passing on Shirley's birthday in 1978.

Shirley's family and friends were everything to her and she was loved and cherished by all. She was spirited, humble, loyal, feisty, kind, selfless, steadfast, and rich in faith, family and friends. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved attending and serving in her ward.

She will be remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as "Gram" and "Grandma with Pretzels." Her family's favorite memories include: her Christmas Eve dinners, Christmas cookies, her charming Christmas village, playing card games, girl's nights watching "The Bachelor," and her fun sense of humor. She was always dressed in the latest styles, even at age 93. She loved her trips to Alaska, Oregon, New York, New Orleans, London, Russia, Europe or any other adventure her daughter-in-law wanted to take her on. Playing Bridge with several groups of lifelong friends and hosting it in her home was such a part of her life and something she loved.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Dee (Janet) Reynolds, Salt Lake City and Paul (Leslye) Reynolds, Medford, Oregon; six grandchildren: Lisa (Scott) O'Neil, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jason (Stephanie) Reynolds, Salt Lake City, Kimi (Steve) Francis, Salt Lake City, Ashley (Teag) Whiting, Cedar City, Utah, Jake (Emily) Reynolds, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lindsay Reynolds, Portland, Oregon; 13 great-grandchildren: Josh (McCall), Jeremy, Alexa, Isaak, Kira, Ben, Eliza, Dallas, Makenzie, Addi, Greyson, Katelyn and Harper, and sister-in-law Helen Watson. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother: Wayne Watson, and many dear friends.

She always had a special love for angels and will now be our angel to watch over us.
