Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away on September 1, 2015.
Joyce was born on November 2, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lawrence and Gudvor Braby. She married Charles (Chick) S. Reed in 1944. They adopted their son, Charles B. Reed from Germany in early 1958. She and Chick later divorced.
Joyce returned to school in mid-life to earn her Masters in Social Work from the University of Utah. After which she poured her heart and soul into the children of the Granite School District for 24 years. She retired in June of 2001 at the age of 75. She would say frequently, "I wish everyone could enjoy their job as much as I did mine!"
She worked hard and bought the home of her dreams on Princeton Avenue where she lived and kept her rose garden for over 40 years.
Joyce is survived by her son, Charles (Chuck) Reed (Cedar Valley), her granddaughters Amber (Dustin) Kunz (Lehi) and Brylee Reed (Orem); and her great grandchildren: Danica Joyce, Abigail Lynn, and Logan Wade.
A viewing will be held Friday, September 11, 2015, from 6:00 ‚ 8:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E South Temple, Salt Lake City. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:30 am at The Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and N Street.
