Mary Frances McAnulty

1929 ~ 2016

Mary Frances McAnulty, born May 3, 1929 died September 12, 2016, daughter of Lillian Yvonne St. Jean and Francis Hughes Cummings, survived by her children David McAnulty, Dr. Jonathan McAnulty, Dr. Melinda McAnulty, grandchildren Shaun, Heather, Sierra, Hannah and Tessa and well as her sisters Ann Welch and Jean Neild.

Mary was a dedicated wife and mother all of her life. She was a full partner with her husband Dave in raising their 3 strong willed children and in particular had to shoulder that load for extended times when Dave was required to do extended sea duty during his 30-year Naval career. Mary loved interacting with the people around her and was a great hostess and entertainer. She also had an adventurous streak that seemed to wrestle with her more pragmatic side. However, when prompted to go on hikes or adventures by her children she was always game to participate and happy to be part of the event. The family has many tales of "easy" hikes with Mary that turned into marathon events. Mary even took up downhill skiing in her 70's although ultimately she determined that maybe that wasn't her sport and would stick to playing tennis which she pursued into her late seventies.

Mary held down a number of jobs in her life starting with a position in the Navy and later was an elementary school teacher for a considerable period of time. After her children left for college she found a hidden talent in sales and was a top salesperson for a vacation property sales company.

Mary and Dave moved to Salt Lake City in 2005 to be near her daughter Melinda and her family. They enjoyed tennis and golf together for many years. She loved to have her grandchildren and children visit for the holidays and throughout the year, and remained dedicated to her family to the end. She was preceded in death by her husband David John McAnulty three years ago. She will be missed all the days of our lives.

Many, many thanks for the meticulous care given by Pamela Bracken, Randi Tisdale, Livier Santiago, Gladys Etienne, Dr. Dave Gubler, Dr. Graydon Harker, University of Utah ED, University of Utah Neurology team and many others.

There will be a memorial service September 24th 1 PM at 687 North Donner Hill Circle, Salt Lake City, Utah. Condolences can be shared at www.larkinmortuary.com.
