Marilyn Lindsay

1928 ~ 2018

Our sweet Sister, Aunt, Great Aunt and Friend, Marilyn Lindsay passed away on June 22, 2018 in Provo, Utah. Marilyn was born in San Francisco, California on October 12, 1928 to Ray Thompson Lindsay and Mildred Ellison Lindsay. Marilyn spent her childhood attending elementary school at Francis Scott Key, high school at Polytechnic High School before attending the University of Utah majoring in Education. Her Father, Ray and Mother, Mildred, built a beautiful four story apartment building at140 Duboce Avenuein San Francisco. Prior to bringing Marilyn home from the hospital they named the building the Marilyn Apartments which name still stands today.

Marilyn was an excellent student and was loved by her many friends and sorority sisters at Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. After receiving her degree from the University, she taught school for several years in Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah. She later attended Brigham Young University and received a Master\s Degree in Education specializing in remedial reading. Marilyn answered the call to help children in inner city families to read.

In her youth, Marilyn pursued her love of music by perfecting her unusually gifted skill at the piano. She performed in recitals, at church and family gatherings and was chosen to perform at her High School graduation held at the San Francisco Opera House.

We will remember Marilyn for her deep love of family. She never missed a graduation, baptism, marriage or missionary farewell or home coming of all of her nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was a devoted Stake Relief Society President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and an enthusiastic patron of the arts. If there was a symphony or a ballet or an opera in Salt Lake you would find Marilyn in attendance. Marilyn served with great charm and enthusiasm as the President of the Utah Symphony Guild.

Marilyn created a rich quality of life by keeping close to friends from elementary school through college.

Marilyn is survived by her two brothers, Dean Ray Lindsay (Joan) of Cedar Hills, Utah and Ronald Kent Lindsay of San Carlos (Avis), California.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:00 am at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, with visitation from 9:00 am to 9:45 am prior to services.
