Jack Dunyon Stringham, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully from this life on July 7, 2014 at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born February 26, 1924 in Draper, Utah to Ralph and Vera Stringham. He grew up in Keetley, Utah, long since submerged under the waters of Jordenelle Reservoir, loving the mountains, streams and lakes and having a happy and carefree childhood.

He is survived by four living children: John (Jan), Anne (David) Jerman, Paul (Kim), Susie (Kent) Compton; his brother Henry (Mae), sister Martha (Carl) Wankier. He and Marian have 20 grandchildren and 40 great grand children. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marian Lois Smith Stringham, his son Stephen who passed away at the age of seven, his brother Ralph and sister-in law, Sue.

On May 25, 1949 Jack married his sweetheart, Marian Lois Smith in the Salt Lake Temple. Their love for each other was always present and felt by us all. Jack's life was centered around his family whom he cherished dearly. He always put their interests before his own and encouraged and supported each one of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren individually in their own talents and pursuits.

Jack was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in a variety of callings including, Sunday School and Young Men's Presidencies, Elders Quorum President, guide on Temple Square, Assistant High Priest Group Leader, Assistant Scout Master, Stake High Councilor, and Bishopric Counselor. He and Marian served in the California, San Diego Mission -serving at the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center. He also served as the medical advisor to the mission president.

His greatest interests in life were his family, friends and church. He enjoyed boating and water skiing on Lake Powell and Jackson Lake. Jack shared his love of skiing with all of his children and had many cherished memories skiing with family and friends in the beautiful mountains of Utah and Colorado. He passed on his passion for fishing to all of his family. He also enjoyed hiking, bicycling and golfing. The extended family reunions at Bear Lake were always a highlight in his life. With all of these activities he instilled a love for family togetherness, but most importantly to Jack was instilling in his posterity a deep love for our Savior, Jesus Christ. His personal motto which his family proudly recites is "Work hard, keep the commandments, have a positive attitude and show gratitude"....all of which he perfectly exemplified in his life.

He attended school in Heber City, graduating as an honor student from Wasatch High School in 1942. World War II had begun. He attended the University of Utah under a Navy education program for one year before being called to active duty in July 1943. He was sent to the University of Colorado in the V-12 program as an apprentice seaman and as a pre-med student. After his pre-medical education he entered the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1945 and was placed on inactive duty in 1946. He continued his medical education, receiving his MD degree in August 1948. He interned at the L.D.S. Hospital after which he served two more years in the U.S. Navy Medical Corp., serving at the San Diego Naval Hospital and in Seattle, Washington. He accepted a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Utah Medical School and practiced his specialty for nearly forty years at the L.D.S.
