Lexia DeNae Birdsley

1922 ~ 2015

DeNae Birdsley passed away in Salt Lake City on September 28, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 3, 1922 in Lehi, Utah to Arthur W. and Lexia Olsen. DeNae grew up in Salt Lake City, attended East High School and the University of Utah. In September 1941 DeNae met the love of her life, Sidney C. Birdsley (deceased 1999), they were married July 21, 1942, and were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1952. DeNae and Sid were blessed with 5 children, Pamela (Glade) Faulkner, Cynthia (deceased 1968) (Gordon) Leonhardt, Galen (Marcia) Birdsley, Robert (Cari) Birdsley and Kristen (Dave) Coomans. 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also survive her.

DeNae felt her greatest accomplishment in life was her family, of whom she was extremely proud. Her hands were never idle. She was a very talented seamstress and always had some type of needlework in her hands; she was a fabulous cook, artist and gardener. Her home was warm, peaceful and welcoming. DeNae was a beautiful, elegant, gracious and accomplished woman. She served as the President of the American Chiropractic Association Auxiliary from 1969 to 1971. DeNae was a loyal and devoted friend; she maintained lifelong friendships all of which she cherished. She loved playing bridge, visiting with her friends and travel adventures with Sid. DeNae and Sid loved spending the winter on the island of Maui; each of their children would visit them and in turn have developed a love for the islands. Her passing saddens us, however we rejoice knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved Sid and their daughter Cindy. We want to thank the staff at the Wentworth, and the angels of Hospice of Utah, their staff and especially Michael who showed our mother dignity, respect and love.
