Timothy Nils Borgeson

1984 ~ 2018

Late Tuesday, August 28th, 2018, Timothy Nils Borgeson, beloved son, brother, former Cerner Physician executive, CrossFit enthusiast, perpetual optimist and loyal caring friend, passed away unexpectedly, just 3 weeks after his 34th birthday.

Tim was born on August 5th, 1984 in Des Moines, Iowa, the oldest son of Donald Earl and Beverly Dohrman Borgeson. On August 19th, 1984, he was baptized at the Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines and was confirmed on May 16th, 1999 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mexico, Missouri. At 10 Tim moved with his family and grew up with his younger brother Christopher and sister Rebecca in the close small-town environment of Mexico, MO. There Tim attended the public schools where he loved sports and excelled on the golf course, and as a student. Tim also enjoyed competing on the Quiz Bowl and Soccer teams and graduated from Mexico High in 2003.

In college, he continued to expand his knowledge and experience at University of Missouri. After graduating with a BA in Ag in 2007, he continued to complete an MBA there in 2009, and ever after considered himself a loyal Mizzou Tiger.

What made Tim a great friend was the same characteristic that made him an outstanding associate. He remembered the details, the little things that may seem trivial to most, but which Tim knew, were what was most important. You could count on Tim whenever you needed a friend, opinion or someone to listen. No matter if your time was extended or brief, you always received Tim's full attention. Even being states away he tried his best to stay connected with his Missouri friends in Mexico, Columbia, Kansas City and elsewhere.

Upon graduation, Tim was recruited and applied to begin his career at Cerner Corporation in Kansas City, MO. His first day on the job he distinguished himself by his unwavering positivity that was backed by a genuine and permanent smile and immaculate wardrobe. Always with a quick wit and easy personal skills, Tim learned rapidly and grew from responsibility to responsibility and spent his entire career with Cerner.

As a CrossFit devotee, he would often be doing twice daily workouts at the Ute CrossFit gyms and competed individually and with teams. When relaxing, he loved to be around friends, playing poker, listening to music, or enjoying a sporting events of his beloved Tigers, Yankees, Utes, and Utah Jazz.

Tim was deeply passionate about the work he did and always had a "can do" attitude. In 2013, at the start of the Intermountain Healthcare-Cerner partnership, Tim joined the team as the Physician Alignment Executive where he worked so closely with the Intermountain physicians that many assumed he was a physician himself. In 2015, he made the further commitment to relocate to Salt Lake City to be even more aligned with Intermountain and the combined vision for the two organizations to improve healthcare together. His positive attitude and commitment to improve were infectious, and even when he made promises that seemed unattainable, he wouldn't stop until he found a solution, and somehow always seemed to deliver in the end. Tim's knowledge, confidence, and humor gave reassurance and comfort in easy and in challenging situations. His relationships really were the foundation of his success, and he will be remembered as the Cerner guy who could turn ideas into reality.

He is survived by his father Don Borgeson and mother Bev Borgeson of Mexico, MO, a brother Christopher William Borgeson, of Washington, DC and Rebecca Marie Borgeson, of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Art and Eunice Vigen Borgeson and Frosty and Allene Eckhoff Dohrman as well as 2 uncles, Douglas Borgeson, and Larry Bauste (late husband of Deanne Borgeson).

Always happy and able to bring a smile to any situation, he will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 6th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, at his home, Broadway Park Lofts.

Memorial services will be held for Tim in Mexico, Missouri on Sunday September 9th at 1:30 pm in the St. John's Lutheran Church in Mexico, MO.
