Our precious daughter, Hailey Noelle Swenson, returned to her Heavenly Father on February 23, 2026 at nearly four months old. She was born on November 4, 2025 at the University of Utah hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Arriving a month early, Hailey was determined to join our family. Though her size was small, she was brave and strong, with a sweet and feisty spirit that filled our lives with immeasurable love.
Hailey is deeply loved and missed by her parents, Sarah Swenson and Kenneth (Rusty) Swenson of Tooele, Utah; her older sister, Emery Diane; her maternal grandparents, David and Kathy Laidlaw Ross of Victor, Idaho; her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Patricia Nichols Swenson of Stansbury Park, Utah; and her great-grandmother, Gloria Beard Kimball of Victor, Idaho. She is also deeply loved by her aunts, uncles, and cousins, who cherish her deeply.
During our 20-week anatomy scan, we learned that Hailey would be born with a heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome. She entered the world weighing just five pounds and underwent open-heart surgery at only three days old. This was followed by intensive care over the next three and a half months, including a specialized lymphatic procedure requiring life flight transport to Stanford Children’s Hospital in California. Otherwise, Hailey spent her life at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she was dearly loved by her nurses and medical care team.
Hailey was known for her sweet and sassy personality and her expressive “side-eye,” never shy about letting others know how she felt. Though tiny, she was strong and active—frequently kicking her legs and quick with her hands, often pulling out her feeding tube. She loved being swaddled and having her fan on, lights dimmed, noises low, with an occasional Disney princess song playing. Her dark eyebrows, long eyelashes, tiny frame, and later her full cheeks were often admired. She found comfort in a gentle hand on her head, a finger to hold, and soft pats on her chest. Her big, beautiful eyes made the most precious expressions, and she even gifted us a few smiles.
Spending time with and holding Hailey became our greatest joy. Her two-year-old sister was able to visit her on few occasions and delighted in seeing her “baby sister open her eyes.” We treasure every moment we shared with our daughter and find peace in the promise that families are eternal and that we will be reunited again.
Through the plan of salvation and the love of Jesus Christ, Hailey’s spirit lives on—strong, whole, beautiful, and free. She will forever remain our brave and amazingly beautiful baby girl, our sweet Hailey bug.
We welcome all who would like to join us in honoring Hailey’s life on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the LDS church located at 1717 N Berra Blvd Tooele, UT 84074. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. and a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m.
A burial will follow at Grantsville City Cemetery, North Lot. 370 W Main St Grantsville, UT 84029
I am so so sorry. I am thinking of you all and how difficult this is. Sending you all my love.
Dear Kenneth,
I am deeply saddened by the loss of your sweet daughter Hailey. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your beloved family, as you all go through this hard moment. I cannot imagine how tough it could be to not have her anymore. However, we all submit to the will of God, as we say, we are all his and will return to him.
Ebad Hashemi,
So very sad for you all. I know it's got to hard to let little Hailey move on to the next phase of her progression without you. She'll be waiting excitedly for you on the other side of the veil and she'll be watching out for you here. Ask for the Holy Ghost to bring you comfort. He will! Much love to you, Hugs!
